We can’t achieve our mission of ending hunger in San Francisco and Marin without pushing to change the systems and structures that created the hunger crisis in the first place.
We are committed to advocating for just, equitable public policies that address the root causes of hunger and strengthen the social safety net.
We believe it will take the combined will of our entire community and our elected officials to elevate hunger as a key issue in this election cycle. We asked all candidates running for office in San Francisco to share their plans for ending hunger and addressing its root causes.
We prioritize policies where hunger prevention intersects with health, poverty, equity, social
justice, and food systems. Read more in our Policy Platform and our 2024 State Policy Agenda

Working in coalition with partners locally and nationally, we have already achieved some big
wins in the fight to end hunger.
Our advocacy efforts secured $300M in the CA state budget for emergency food and capacity enhancements to improve infrastructure and disaster resilience
We joined partners statewide to pass a first-in-the-nation Universal School Meals Program to provide free breakfast and lunch to all K-12 public school students
As members of the SF Food Security Task Force, we lobbied for the creation of a citywide report to hold government agencies accountable for ending food insecurity and ensuring health equity
